Because they were wrong as far as the voting public were concerned, too ideological and too much unrealistic spending.

Yes I think the spending commitments just seemed like fairy tale politics. It just wasn’t viewed as realistic that you could spend any amount wanted and worry about the borrowing later on. Very naive politics. @justastrugglingguy
