I am just wondering if it was because you didn't like the person who posted it,didn't like that he referenced liberals or were insulted because you can't dance?

@JoeyFoxx Ha. Tell me your not a Kevin Bacon fan for his dancing. :-)
JoeyFoxx · 51-55, M
I’ve met Kevin Bacon.

Dude can’t dance.

@JoeyFoxx Seriously. You met him? How and where? I have Never even met Ted Nugent and he lives in my tinny little town. He even is seen every place.

@Machete it was a fund raiser. It’s not like I had a long conversation. Just a hand shake.

But I saw him try to dance and it was a little sad.

@JoeyFoxx Oh no. That is cool you got to shake his hand. I like doing that better than an autographed picture.
I saw the NASCAR driver Kevin Harvick at a picture signing thing at an auto parts store. That is all I did was shake his hand too and nod at him. It was funny when I stuck my hand out he looked at me like a deer in the head lights. LOL.

I literally bumped into Richard Tyson who played the bad guy in Kindergarten Cop coming out of a store. Was drunk and smelled of whiskey big time.

The doorway was small and we both had to squeeze by each other to get through. He said excuse me then left in a limo. When I think of Ted Nugent I think of Stranglehold that badass song. Bought the album when it first came out, shit I'm old hahaha!

@PatKirby Stranglehold is so over played. They play it as much now as when it first came out. I still crank the volume every time it plays. LOL

Yep I think so too. But it's structured together very well. Ted's lead establishes the direction that dynamically flows through to the bass line and drums supporting it with serious tonal range. The abrupt change in tempo midway through reinforces the flow in a powerful way. Awesome movement throughout. A fine piece of quality extended work you don't find much anymore. Been using it to boost my weight lifting sessions for years. Man that bass speaks to me.

Check out this guy's reaction hearing it for the first time...

@PatKirby I'm still watching the video, well listening at the moment.
It's so cool to see some of these first reaction vids.
The dude starts bobbin' to it right away too. LOL
Funny thing is I got this dawg cranked right now.
You are so correct about the flow. It reminds me of how Hendrix played hard off the bass.
This song has stood the test of time for good reason. Ted nails it with the lead hard core. Every note that should have been in it was.
Even the vocals have some really bad ass harmonies and is just the perfect style for the compilation.
You are also correct that you don't find music like this any more.
Don't even get me started on KISS as far as not any more. LOL

I remember first hearing Stranglehold on the radio in '75 and rushed out to buy the album (original pressing) that I still have. After years of playing it repeatedly I had to by another one due to all the crackles and pops. A couple of things I discovered after research that I didn't know: his guitar solo was recorded in a single take - one and done, the vocals are by Derek St. Holmes but the "Sometimes you wanna get higher" verse is sung by Ted.

However, on the tv series "Sounds of the Time" he said that unfortunately every record label passed on him. So about the lyrics, Ted said it was a song of defiance...

Here I come again now baby
Like a dog in heat
Tell it's me by the clamor now baby
I like to tear up the streets
I've been smoking for so long
You know I'm here to stay
Got you in a stranglehold baby
You best get out of the way

"That's to the industry. This is the music people love: I'm playing 300 concerts a year and people are foaming at the mouth. The energy at my concerts was unprecedented and remains unprecedented, so some dirtbag at a desk in New York City is going to say that my music isn't relative? Come on the road with me a couple hundred nights and see the relative. Watch the girls dance - that's relative, you dirtbag. So it was a song of defiance." - Ted Nugent

Guitar World ranked it the 31st greatest guitar solo of all time.

@PatKirby Cool info. Thanks for that.
I knew about the singer only because I had a musician friend I jammed with for a spell that knew everything about music and musicians. LOL

Ted has a house about 10 minutes from me. I have yet to see him. He even owned a hunting store in town and I never seen him there either.
Everyone i know has met him at least once.
