Well, yes and no. Most animal shelters here deal with cats and dogs, and personally I can't stand cats or dogs. But at the same time, I hate seeing any living thing suffer, even if it's an animal that I really dislike.
Although I do absolutely love working with animals like snakes, raccoons, snapping turtles, and crows. And there's a number of shelters here in the city which provide help for wounded or displaced creatures of that nature. Last spring, my sister talked me into volunteering at a shelter which was helping to relocate bats.

@BlueMetalChick You say snapping turtles? When my dad used to do construction and I was little, he would often bring one home when he found it on the side of the road. We would keep it overnight, then release it in the wilds where he found it. My dad was an animal lover and we always had something of some sort - dogs, caged birds, turtles, fish, guniea pigs, rabbits.
