Why do people strive to make being overweight seem like a good thing?

Why would you not strive to be healthy?
I’m not referring to people with legit medical conditions.

It is possible to be somewhat over weight and still be healthy...there are people who are larger than average, they do exercise and watch whet they eat as well as monitor themselves with physician help. They just can't seem to take much or all of the weight off. And of course there are ones who have medical conditions, but not going there because you said that's not what you wanted to hear. THAT is the real reason behind body acceptance...to learn to like/
love themselves as they are, and to stand against the prejudice (as well as the ridicule and cruelty) out there. The problem is that the bigots formed an immediate and strong backlash, and the people who do over eat and are lazy started using it as an excuse to justify their unhealthy lifestyles (which only fuels the negativity).

im not shaming anyone as I’ve said in other comments body type plays a roll but everyone should strive to be healthy.

@Soramarie Agreed, and I didn't say that you were...but as you can see from some replies to your post as well as replies to other similar posts, the problem exists. I'm just saying that if we are sincerely a society and culture that teaches/ believes in/practices understanding, non-judgmentalism, and acceptance of different people as they are...then a person's looks and weight should not be one of the remaining acceptable prejudices. People come in all shapes and sizes, and that should have no bearing on who they are as a person.
