Lifes dreaded questions (?)

Luckily, all coffee makers made in the past 20 years turn themselves off, automatically, after 2 hrs max. I installed a new control on my garage door, it closes after 10 mins unless told to stay open, and, I can control it via internet!

I made a pot of hummingbird food one morning, you know, sugar and water.
...and left the house after an urgent phone call. Forgot about the pan of sugar water on my stove.
Thankfully, my oven overheated? and shut the gas off instead of setting the house on fire. I am assuming this is a safety feature - I really don't know how everything turned out fine. Except for the pan anyhow.

Often. Not the coffee pot but the hair straighteners, grill, even...did i lock the door?? Ive gone home from work on my morning break to check more than once!
