Have You Ever Walked Into A Grocery Store And Bought Something You Thought Was The Meat Of An Animal... And It Wasn't?

The very powerful meat industry, has done and are attempting to pass laws forbidding the use of labels/words like "veggie burger" or "vegan hot dog" on plant-based products. They SAY that it is confusing or "deceptive" to consumers, even though every plant-based "meat" product has meatless plain as day somewhere on the front of the packaging.

Oh, please. A hamburger is by definition ground beef in the form of a patty, and the name is a reference to Hamburg, Germany, not a type of animal. I can see where veggie hot dog should be allowed, but not so much that. Just call it something else. A meatless patty.

@LordShadowfire everyone knows what a veggie burger is though, it's a perfectly functional name.

@LordShadowfire And as we all know, language never changes over time and is completely stagnant.
@BlueVeins Oh, okay. You've convinced me this is all a huge conspiracy by the big bad meat manufacturers.
BlueVeins · 22-25
@LordShadowfire Not really, a conspiracy is by definition, a secret plan. Meat manufacturers are quite open about the fact that they spend millions of dollars on government lobbying.

@LordShadowfire While the use of the word "hamburger" is speculated to have originated from and been inspired by beef served in Hamburg, Germany? That would have more relevance to this question, if the manufactures of plant- based meat alternative products actually called them "hamburgers".
@BlueVeins @Piper 🙄

Not my circus. Not my monkeys. That's my new motto.

@LordShadowfire Great! Not sure why you even chose to reply to this question I posted in 2019 then, for the second time. 🙄
