Sad news 😥

As some of you might have recently seen on the news one of the World War II planes the B17 flying fortress Recently crashed At Bradley airport just outside of Hartford Connecticut.

If any of you have seen any of my previous posts I went to visit the World War II planes that they had here in Maine for a visit not too long ago It is a sad thought that it crashed with people on board and a weird thought that I walked through it And tourd it one week before this happened.

I hope you guys pray for the families of the victims and the survivors that are in the hospital 7 people died and about 6 people were injured there were said to be 13 people on board.

The collings foundation is very shook up they are the people that owned the plane they own a automotive or transportation Museum in Stow Massachusetts I've never been there but I hear it's amazing and they lost a great piece of History yesterday that will never be able to be brought back, there are 18 other B-17 Flying fortresses in the world currently but each one is unique and it's a shame to lose one.

I am going to missing seeing this plane it is the 3rd time I've ever seen the plane and now I won't be able to see it again. I'm glad I brought my friend along with me to see the plane when it was here this year because I do not think the Collings foundation has another B17 so I don't think any will ever come back for a visit.

Saw this in a small airfield in Maine..
A B29..
It was on it's way to an airshow but had a problem with the gear and was sitting on the tarmac waiting for spare parts to be shipped in from California..

Wow...I saw that plane many years ago at a airshow back in East Texas where I grew up. I still have the photos from that day.

The B-29 was an awesome plane in its day. My understanding is that the Soviet Union copied it and used it as the foundation for their Tupolev bombers.

FWIW, the National WW1 Memorial and Museum is located in Kansas City. The museum is located at the bottom of the Liberty Memorial, across the street from Union Station.

The museum is pretty extensive and organized so as to effort visitors both the big picture of the war, and why it was a "world" war, as well as the personal side of the war.

Included is a recreation of the trenches to afford visitors a feeling of what it must have been like to have been there.

Just a few miles away, In Independence, MO, is the Truman Museum, and the Truman home nearby, for an up close peek at WW2.

A dozen+ years ago I had a chance encounter with one the B17 pilots of the Confederate Air Force.

It was at a service station and he was a few dimes short of cash when buying a cup of coffee. I was behind him and bailed him out :)

He was wearing an old leather flight jacket, and when he turned to thank me I saw his CAF patch, and his name-tag: "Col Peck" if I remember right.

We were both in a bit of a rush, but had a nice 5 minute chat with him. I had flown just a few hours in old C-124s when I was in the Reserves and have a lot of respect for those old recips. Ubelievable complex machines designed, created, and mass-produced in a big hurry.

Condolences to the families of the lost souls..

I think This plane has been flying out of a small airfield near my house..
Had a war birds airshow there a couple of weeks ago..
I saw it many times in the sky over my shop wich is only a few hundred yards from the airstrip.

@ChemDawg wow how was the flight? I bet the flight was loud since it's not insulated and very windy since there's open parts.

One of my favorite parts of the plane was that very roomy area in the middle where the radio and Morse code clicker telegraph thing was
