What do you think influences your sense of humour ?

Why is it knock knock jokes are funny ?

Why is it one type of tv comedy appeals and another doesn't ?

Why does Rick and Morty appeal to some yet others prefer South Park ?

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout See Blackadder is character and situation based.
And even if the time period means nothing to you you can still appreciate the idea of 'idiots' in positions of power, or 'cunning' paupers seeking influence.

I wonder if we recognize that as a human trait or whether it's something else.
I see good and evil as ‘opportunity ’ @Picklebobble2
Anyone had the potential to walk thru any door if the carrot getting dangled is big enough..
idiots in positions of power.. I think we’ve suffered that for way to long 😎👌

It has to be sharp and intelligent, or I won’t find it funny. Stuff like The Three Stooges leaves me cold.

@SmartKat Have you ever seen the BBC's 'Yes Minister' ?
SmartKat · 56-60, F
@Picklebobble2 No, I am not familiar with it.

@SmartKat It's about a newly elected MP in the British Parliament.
He comes in with all his ideas and ideals. Keen to show that he's 'part of the team'. but he gets an Under Secretary and a civil servant to work with and they both undermine and confuse him in order to keep the status quo as it is.

You don't need to know how UK politics works so much but it illustrates just how frustrating it can be to want change in a world where everything/one seems to conspire to ensure things stay the same !

I was in the era of good British comedy that made me laugh, steptoe, rising damp. Love thy neighbor, fools and horses,
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@Nyloncapes All sitcoms. All 'working class'. All characters at the 'lower' end of the social spectrum.
That's interesting !

Do you think for many of us there's 'better' humour at the 'sharp end' of social mobility rather than the opposite 'Friends/Good life' end of the social spectrum ?
Nyloncapes · 61-69, M
@Picklebobble2 to be honest never thought of looking at it in that way very interesting point, but they were the only ones that really made me laugh, watched good life ,dad's army , but not same effect on me as to making me laugh
