Are men supposed to hold their feelings in?

A lot of men do. A lot of men are taught that from an early age. "Big boys don't cry." "man up" "don't be a pussy" All that.

Are they 'supposed to'? I don't believe so. We have our emotions for reasons. To hold them in defeats their purpose, is unhealthy and eventually they come out anyway, and not always in a good way.

But maybe i'm not the best authority on this subject

@SarahAndSamantha but a cry baby all the time is not a good thing right? What if soldiers were crybabies?

@Foodface Expressing and working through emotions in a healthy way is not being a cry baby. And statements such as that are also translated as "big boys don't cry".

I have no scientific basis for this, but I have a feeling if soldiers worked through, and even used, their emotions, as they happened there would be less PTSD. Again, bottled up emotions come out eventually.

@SarahAndSamantha Oh please, so many of us who grew up with TOUGH AS NAILS dads who voluntarily joined our country's military to put their lives on the line during a war, are getting FED UP and so sick and tired of you progressives TRYING to pussify our young veterans.
Yes, PTSD is a real issue for many veterans, ESPESCIALLY among those men who were drafted/FORCED to enlist during the Vietnam War, which is heartbreaking BECAUSE they were FORCED to enlist to fight in a war they didn't agree with, THAT'S FUCKED UP, so of course messed up their minds.

Whereas my dad at 17 yrs old decades ago who volunteered to join the Marines, KNOWING exactly what he was getting into, still CHOSE to enlist. As did our men and women after 9/11 who VOLUNTEERED to put THEIR lives on the line to serve, protect and defend our great country.

Where now it's you NUTS on the freakin' "progressive" left who now USE and ABUSE our young veterans who VOLUNTEERED to sacrifice their lives...to now think that there is something wrong with them for DOING THEIR JOB of killing the scumbags who want to kill us Americans.

@ZedsLeppelin2 wow. Yeah, I'm simply saying it's okay to have emotions and a man isn't a pussy if he has them, that's it, really. But, sure. I CAN capitalize WORDS too.
