When was the last time you went into a shop and asked for Durex when you meant to say Dulux?

Not one single time in my whole entire life.

Don't know what either thing is either.

and no one here in the "states" ever asked for a certain "brand" since 1942.

Store clerks are overworked and clueless and have no idea what's in their store...

since 1942 that is.

Don't mean any snarkiness. But that's my answer.

@Stilltryinghard Why since 1942? Why that particular year?
@Bewilderbeeste It was around the time the corporate model started taking over and obliterating any familiarity of business owners with their own customers or their own products.

And I enjoyed riffing off the idea of "1492"
being the start of something else which ended up giving us lots of grief...

@Stilltryinghard That was the year when Porter's Twin Town system began. April 16th 1942, I'm pretty sure it was.
@Bewilderbeeste Don't know that thing but seems like u know what I'm kinda joking about, TY!

@Stilltryinghard You've never heard of Twin Towns? Where one town in one country is twinned with a town in another country. They twin the towns for various reasons (same name, similar size, similar population, similar buildings and so on).
@Bewilderbeeste sister cities yes.

@Stilltryinghard Is that what they call it in America?
