Do people never eat using their hands?

When I was in India, I was taught the proper technique of eating curry and biryanis with my hand, and there is definitely a technique to it.

You familiar with the phrase "finger food?" Because we have quite a few of that.

Fried chicken is the exception, we eat that with our hands.

Nothing's wrong with not using utensils. It's done because we touch chairs and other things before and during eating and we don't want the food and grease and spit all over the gravy ladle salt shaker or the passed along roll basket or side dishes and serving utensils, or our selves if we happen to need to scratch an itch or something.

Just cultural differences. No big deal either way.

Only for finger foods.

It depends on what you’re eating. In the U.S. there are finger foods, bread, pizza, chicken, corn on the cob, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, etc. Do you eat soup and salads with your hands ? Why can’t folks observe their culture in their way and respect that others may do things differently ? Neither way is wrong.
