Do people never eat using their hands?

In my country, we usually always eat everything using our hands..but outside my country it seems people only use spoons, forks and knifes etc for eating..i mean they don't even consider using hands as an option. Why is it that? Whats wrong in using your hands provided you washed them properly?? 🤷‍♀️

When I was in India, I was taught the proper technique of eating curry and biryanis with my hand, and there is definitely a technique to it.

@SW-User I have a friend, originally from North Africa, whom I’ve known since college, who told me when I was 18, after observing that I’m left-handed, “if you ever eat in Middle Eastern or African homes or restaurants, find a way to just use your right hand. Eating with your left makes a very bad impression. And she explained why. 😱

I’m right handed, so I never heard anything about using your left. I do know you’re only supposed to eat with one hand to keep your other hand clean for drinking, passing food to others, etc. @bijouxbroussard

@SW-User Apparently one’s left hand is used for hygiene, in the restroom. It’s also why extending one’s left hand for a handshake is considered an insult.
