Depends if the rap music is glorifying crime, which unfortunately most of it does.

I think crime leads to rap music.

It's more probable than not. Young children are incredibly impressionable, so if you couple enough environmental influences with peer pressure, a life of crime can and often does happen.

It's not the sole cause, but even as a lifelong hip-hop fan, I can't deny it doesn't play a role

It almost did that to me. The goof balls don't even know the speakers go on the inside. The only time I listen to rap is at the red light when my windows are down.
