“If guns kill people I guess pencils misspell words, cars drive drunk, and spoons make people fat.”
TeresaRudolph71 · 51-55, F
I agree! And by that logic, social media creates trolls and pervs, and penises cause rape. 😝
Guns don't kill people. People kill people. And people with guns are able to kill more people more easily. There are people I could kill with a gun whom I couldn't with my bare hands or a knife or a stick. And then there's the sheer volume of people I could kill.
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@JessBalance Agreed, providing you are in a gun free zone where you are shooting fish in a barrel. It is easy to kill on mass when no one can shoot back. Every mass shooting so far has been where there were no other armed people.
@OwnerOfMany Oops. I mistyped the first line of my comment. It was meant to be. Guns don't kill people. I've fixed it now
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@JessBalance Your statement is a bit ambiguous, are you pro 2nd amendment or anti? Do you believe sane law abiding people should be left the hell alone when it comes to firearms?
MagicaloneANRABF · 56-60, M
Pencils are not given to toddlers, cars are not driven by babies you need to eatn a license. And the spoon comparuson is NRA thinking. Any excuse to have an AK 47 available to buy like a loaf of bread is insane
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@MagicaloneANRABF Most people here are not constantly afraid. It is more of a "just in case" kind of thing. When I was young we didn't have all this street violence with guns. People didn't shoot each other all the time. I grew up in a rural area and in a small town. I was taught to shoot at a young age because of snakes, mad dogs, and other things. Plus we did hunt for food.
The US has always been a "gun culture" but it hasn't always been this bullshit "Thug culture" with the exception of the mafia families who fought among themselves.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
@MagicaloneANRABF I agree...my dad and my grandad had a few rifles, shot guns, and even a few single shot and 6 shot pistols. They used them for hunting and maybe for a little recreational target shooting once in awhile. There is NO NEED whatsoever for any average citizen to possess automatic and military style weapons. They should have never been made available to the general public, and there is absolutely NO argument anyone can give to convince me otherwise.
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@MagicaloneANRABF Did I say there should be no regulations on firearms at all? No, I did not. It is a tool, no more, no less. and there are people who have no business handling one much less owning one.
The 2nd amendment was written for a reason and if you do not support that reason you are an idiot.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
This is true. But pencils also write valuable words. Cars drive us to important places, spoons provide nutrition, and guns... Well guns only really kill things.

By the logic of the people are in the wrong, not the tool, then we should legalize heroin and Crystal meth because drugs don't hurt people without someone to use them.
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@ViciDraco Guns also keep people from being killed. I have personal experience with that one.
I have no problem with the legalization of heroine, meth, or cocaine. I have the same problem with drugs as I have with alcohol, where and when to use it.
ViciDraco · 36-40, M
@OwnerOfMany There is at least consistency then. Guns are and will remain a complicated subject.
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@ViciDraco True. The idiocy of all the gun control proposals, even confiscation, is no matter what they do it will only effect the law abiding citizens. The problem is not the gun but whatever is wrong with the asshole behind the trigger.
indyjoe · 56-60, M
Guns are weapons and this isn't an argument one way or the other about gun control....a loaded gun can lay on the topmost shelf in a closet for years and never harm a single person. Guns are only as dangerous as the people who own and/or use them. That is one thing the NRA said that I always agreed with...guns don't kill people, people kill people.
silkandlace · 46-50, M
Ahhh, well said
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
Yed and no... A guns primary function is to kill.
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@LikeTheSun Regardless of its primary function a gun is a tool, nothing more. A gun without a person is a benign object, totally harmless.
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@OwnerOfMany i guess we could say the same for cars and everything else then
OwnerOfMany · 90-99, M
@LikeTheSun True, that is the point I was trying to make. Thanks for the reply.

[c=#1F5E00]cars are licensed and retested, so is vision and you have to pay an annual fee[/c]

Guns vs pencils? Have to do better than that to convince most people.
Lostpoet · M
I agree and autocorrect makes people sound stupid.
RosaDawn · 46-50, F
