DoOverMan · 46-50, M

JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
@DoOverMan this is why we will remain incompatible
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
I watched it on tv after school and I cried so hard. Nobody was home.
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
I was in high school but still upset me seeing it and seeing their families confused not knowing that it was an explosion.@DrWatson

@Keepitsimple Yeah, immediately after posting my reply, I thought about your age and realized that "kid" wasn't really the right word!
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Lol...well...technically I was still a kid 😉@DrWatson
I was working in Japan at the time. My roommate's fiance' called from the US late at night (our time) to tell us about it. The next day at work, my Japanese boss called me and my US colleague into his office to share his condolences. And then he used the disaster as an example of poor US engineering and explained to us how we could learn much during our stay in Japan. I was not a happy camper.

At work and felt terrible seeing it happen
Grade school class. They brought a tv in to show everyone. Which seems weird to think about now.
@Mamapolo2016 I Dunno. 86 was a long time ago
@stound 33 years is an eye blink.
@Mamapolo2016 at this point, yeah.
Watching it on CNN.

goliathtree · 56-60, M
In college. I skipped a class to watch the launch on my little 12" black and white TV and saw the whole thing.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I was at work. At first, I was hearing vague references to what had happened, but before long I knew.

Just about to move to London to start my first job.
I was 26, and at work...I think either the radio or tv was on in the break room. I guess we’d gotten used to hearing about travel to the space station and unmanned cameras, all going according to plan by then. We couldn’t believe that all those astronauts and teacher Sally Ride were gone—in an instant. 😔
Edit Christa McAuliffe was the teacher.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard The teacher was Christa McAuliffe. Sally Ride was an astronaut who was one of the principal investigators of the accident. (I have a story about her on my profile.)
@DrWatson Right, it looked wrong as soon as I read it back.
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard I know that feeling!
