SilentShadow0110 · 31-35, F
I'm just over it, done, and withdraw for the rest of my life.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@SilentShadow0110 I have that inclination.

SW-User
I don’t get close enough to people to let them have leverage over me in the first place duh
You will eventually. @SW-User @SW-User
SW-User
@Spoiledbrat thanks for the warning? Lmao
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@SW-User It happens to everyone at some point...
SlovelyNertzo · 26-30, M
Long ago I would've fallen into a deep depression immediately. After I drank myself into a stupor for a lengthy period of time I would've begun to believe I was exactly what this person said I was. Then I'd lapse into another depression, etc etc. I don't do this anymore. Now I would nod, turn on my heel and calmly walk away.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@SlovelyNertzo Good for you. That's a difficult thing to learn.
SlovelyNertzo · 26-30, M
@Tomorrow Thanks. It is.
SW-User
I try to understand it and if they did it trying to be malicious or not...
SW-User
@Tomorrow oh cat... you make me proud! So happy we are on the same page! 😘
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
Lol. Yes.
SW-User
@Tomorrow 😊

I tend not to take most things too personal. Sometimes people say things in the heat of the moment when they're angry, frustrated or upset. So sometimes I'll overlook what they said.

If it's coming from a stranger, I just ignore them in most instances. Some people try to provoke an emotional reaction. And I never allow anyone to have that much control over my emotions.

If it's someone I care about, I'll confront them about it just in case I've misinterpreted what they meant. People sometimes say things that are ambiguous, so they can easily be misunderstood.
SlovelyNertzo · 26-30, M
@Victorianna It took me years to reach your level of maturity.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@Victorianna It's the ones I care about that truly hurt me.
Victorianna · 31-35, F
@Tomorrow yeah I totally get that. :)
Beatbox34 · 31-35, M
Depends on the situation and the person.

I prefer to avoid the person so that it doesn't get complicated but sometimes when it's the significant other then I cry and Chuck it up.

I normally want to be "quiet" and not cause drama but in the end I get affected by it severely.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@Beatbox34 Yeah. I understand that.
SW-User
Cry and question my life's existence
@SW-User it's not just me 😲
SW-User
@TopCat of course 😬
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
I've done that too. More than once.
I get even quieter, and withdraw while I “process” it.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
Zoranna · F
If it's someone I love, care about or admire I hide away to cry and lick my wounds wondering "why?".
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@Zoranna Boy do you have that right. What a deep question for such a short little word.

Man, do I understand that! I still hurt over the last one. I knew it was a mistake then but couldn't help it. I'm wiser now. And yes, lonelier too.

Being selective helps. But I don't think I can again. I guess I'll be alone.
SW-User
Usually pretend everything’s ok and then find a way to work them out of my life
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
Yes. One I don't possess.
SW-User
Well I would offer to teach you but it’s probably my worst trait @Tomorrow
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
Lol. If that's your worst then good for you.
Neither. I just wonder why people are being rude and make a mental note to return the favor. Though I’m usually not that kind of rude.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@Spoiledbrat Gotcha.
I vocalize my feelings when I can. I don’t always because it would cause more trouble than it’s usually worth. @Tomorrow
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@Spoiledbrat Yes. Sometimes it's less heartache to just let it go.
blendednotshaken · 51-55, M
more about the situation, try to clam up, doesn't always work.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@blendednotshaken Yeah. Sometimes clamming up doesn't work. Sometimes the snarky rebuttals or the tears find their way to the surface anyway.
SW-User
Mad and vocal unless it was my wife, then i just got sad. It takes a lot to hurt my feelings though.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@SW-User It takes quite a bit to hurt mine as well but I am not impervious which people some seem to believe.
SW-User
@Tomorrow I'm wondering if i actually do get hurt but try and offset it with anger? I think all of us have our breaking points.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
Most of the time I do okay, but I won't lie, I've reacted in anger a few times. But underlying hurt is usually the cause. Yes. Everyone has their breaking point.
I take a breath and think to myself ;

Then smile, walk away and I am done!!!
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
Peacekittie · 51-55, F
Become quiet, cry internally then meditate trying to heal from the situation 🌸
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
@Peacekittie Good way to handle it.

I'm not a great believer in astrology but I am a typical Cancerian in the way I retreat into my shell.
Zoranna · F
@ArtieKat I am too and agree with you.
Tomorrow · 56-60, F
I am nothing like my "sign". Lol. If I were I'd be literally tearing everyone a new a-hole all the time. 😂😂
ArtieKat · M
Clam up. No point in speaking when it falls on deaf ears.

I think about it. Growing up neglected, I never really gave any weight to my emotions, so I hardly ever react in the moment. The initial reaction is feeling like I let that person down, because that's more of what my childhood was like.

It usually takes a few days to process, and I almost always never reach a clear verdict. Maybe they were seeing something I wasn't or maybe they're just pieces of shit. Maybe I'm not as good a person as I thought or maybe they were having a rough day. There's a lot that can be going on, and I'll never know the real truth
