I don't mean to sound intolerant and this

May be a dumb question but going on the theory that the only stupid question is the one not asked, I heard that some suicide bomber' s families are compensated after they blow themselves up. Anyone heard this? If true would that kind of make them more of a paid assassin and take the martyr out of the act? Forgive me if this is totally ignorant and tell me so if you want.
