Nope. Still not sure now! 😔

SweetMae · 70-79, F
I always wanted to be an artist.

@Stereoguy I’m just thinking of what ways I can be useful that they need help with. They have built a new cafeteria/gym/auditorium and are going to have a buffet lunch line this coming year. Maybe they need some help there. Bringing a chef to cook the lunch but if it’s a buffet he’s probably going to need help. I have worked in a lunch place (Senior Citizens meals) a long time ago. I don’t know though what they need.

@Stereoguy They do it on a much larger scale at the university for the business majors and have been for about 20 years. They come up with projects and see how much they can make from them and do a lot of sales.

That's so telling of our times! "Social Media Influencers"....whatever that is! I think mine went from Astronaut to Sports Star to Rock Star...
Unfortunately none of those worked out...
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@luctoretemergo Oklahoma has produced lot of country music stars.
luctoretemergo · 61-69, M
I Googled it....yeah, quite a few.
The beautiful Carrie Underwood among others!
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@luctoretemergo Toby Keith lives a few miles from here. Supposedly richer than Garth Brooks....he started out as an oil well worker.
MartikaDuponte1 · 36-40, F
Can’t remember what I wanted to be.....

Perhaps something involving drawing and painting? If so, that’s my hobby, not my career....

Lol my little nephew when he graduated from kindergarten, the teacher went down the list asking what each child wanted to be. She came to my 4 year old nephew and asked. He looked up and smiled before replying, "a rodeo clown". There wasn't a person in the audience that could stifle their laughter. I have the video saved and when he graduates from high school and college I will be playing it for him once again.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Fungirlmmm I wonder how many months a year a rodeo clown can work? Sounds like fun if you like adrenaline surges.
Fungirlmmm · 51-55, F
Telephone operator. I had that job for a brief time. I talked to some scary and odd people during that time.

I didn't know what career I wanted when I was in 10th grade.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou I knew a woman who had a degree in commercial art and she was working service jobs. I asked her why with that degree and she said “You have to have a gimmick to succeed”...told her to get a gimmick. Maybe it’s not as easy as that but it takes creativity to come up with a gimmick and that’s a part of selling your art.
4meAndyou · F
@cherokeepatti I had no joy in any part of graphic design or printmaking. None of it made me feel the sort of inner happiness that sculpture made me feel. And as an artist, even if I hated the sort of work I was doing, I was emotionally tied to it. So that if I got a job at...say...an advertising agency, I would have been crushed to pieces if they had hated my work.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou I had an art teacher in junior high who was a sculptor, she had majored in art and then became a teacher. She’d bring some of her sculptures to class on Fridays to show us. She had such a unique style that I could recognize her sculptures without seeing her name on them...once at a store window of a small art gallery and another time at the Oklahoma City zoo where she did sculptures of children in the butterfly garden. That is the mark of a true artist. She was really good with the eyes.

I remember clearly - I wanted to be a truck driver, just like my dad. I didn't become one, but I did marry one. Close enough.
TheIncredibleHulka · 31-35, F
I'd always wanted to be a teacher... Even as I played with my friends as kids I'd pretend to be a professor and boss my friends around lol.

I was concerned where my next meal and warm place to sleep was at that age
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@TexChik I was too, living with a violent father who had just dosed my mom with LSD and put her in a VA hospital for a year as a result.

@Stereoguy So far there’s 157...it’s preK through 8th grade. They expect the students to volunteer for some fund-raising efforts and the parents are expected to volunteer. I’ll have to see what areas I can help with. It’s only about 2 miles from my house so I can go there pretty often. Have to take him back & forth to school as well.
