Do you think most lawmakers really care about abortion as anything more than just a political issue?

Lawmakers CARE about their WALLETS.

With a few exceptions, most politicians don't give a fuck about abortion or most other social issues. They run on them to secure the vote of American citizens who feel a certain way. So, if you're running for a seat in a state where the voters are strongly anti-abortion, then you'd say you're anti-abortion too just so they vote for you, and vice versa.

I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't even know what it is and they just used it as a means to be favoured my whomever gives them money.

Most are too old to even have children, so it's just another talking point to them.
