Yeah, 18 kinda sounds like a recipe for disaster.

@BlueVeins haha!

@Greybare Some 'political agendas" would like to take women back to the 19th century, or the Middle Ages. 😏

Yes - I have a cousin who married at 16 and was divorced at 19 - basically she had no idea of what a commitment a marriage is
2fast4love · M
@MissTaken My cousin married at 15 because she was pregnant and divorced at 19. Most of my circle married young. Its not for everyone.

At the end of the day, it’s their decision and as long as they want to do it and it’s legal then they should go for it but I’d never want to get married that young
SW-User
@Ella01 would you've want it for your daughter if she choose that?
(Idk how old are you anyway)
Ella01 · F
@SW-User well I’m 17 so if one of my friends got married next year, I’d probably try to talk them out of it tbh. Just seems like throwing the rest of your life away before it’s begun
People change so much between then and their later twenties. Its legal, but seems too soon.

Most of my sisters got married at eighteen. I think it's really hard to handle.

I think it's too young to get married, but it's her life.

For today no but it also depends on the state or the country to constitute what is the lowest legal age for a woman to get married at. But I feel like it should be pushed up to 21 years old, since you can buy alcohol and gamble at that age in the United States. Otherwise as I previously stated it depends on the country.

I met my husband at 18, I married him when I was 19.
Dan193 · 31-35, M
My aunt married at 18
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User In general, you said they were marrying very young. So I was asking if you think you are very young, since you're 18.
SW-User
That time and this time is so different..
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@SW-User biologically people were the same, moreover now people are much more open sexually from even a younger age.
hippyjoe1955 · 70-79, M
My grandmothers and great aunts were all married at 16. Lived happy productive lives and stayed married to the same sometimes much older man they wed in their youth.
It’s a legal age, but it’s too young to have really done any real living before settling down.
@smileylovesgaming Did you marry at 18 ? Most people at 18 are not who they’re going to be later, haven’t had all the experiences that go into making you who you ultimately are. There’s a reason most teenage marriages don’t last nowadays.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@bijouxbroussard I wasn't married. But I was in a good relationship at the time
@smileylovesgaming OP mentioned marriage, making that legal commitment. My reply was that while it’s legal, it’s generally too young to be legally obligated to someone else before having gotten out and lived as an independent person. I stand by that belief.
2fast4love · M
I got married younger than that and we are still together. To each their own
SW-User
@2fast4love if you don't mind me ask, how old are you?
2fast4love · M
@SW-User Im currently 35 almost 36
ABCDEF7 · M
What parameters you are considering to determine right age for girls to marry.
SW-User
I suppose so, but like you say I personally think that's too young.
chrisCA · M
Yes. In this day, and age, she should be getting an education.
For some women it is. My wife was 18 and I was 21.
SW-User
Bruh... Even 25 feels too young. Lmao
SW-User
seems ridiculously too young..
MrAboo · 36-40, M
It's ok, maybe young, but its not obscene
HealingInSilence · 22-25, M
We have women in my area who got married at 14 years old. Pretty crazy shhit, isn't it?
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@HealingInSilence you can get married young in the states. Just got to have your parent's sign off on it.
HealingInSilence · 22-25, M
Well, pretty much 90% of girls are forced for marriage so yeah..
chrisCA · M
@HealingInSilence The key word being "forced".
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
I think you should have known your partner for a few years before getting married.
