What do you think of the way Kavanaugh has been handling this hearing so far?

But women are too emotional to be in positions of power! 😅

The sexual assault allegations are pretty fucked up but honestly I opposed Kavanaugh before this round of accusations because of his atrocious legal philosophy and rank partisan hypocrisy. So if he gets taken down for personal actions, I won't complain. But I wish more people opposed him for the reasons I do.

@BlueMetalChick On your principal, I agree. Character assassinations for political gain are unethical, deter good people from public service and are a travesty of justice.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley If the allegations are true, well, what can I say. Kavanaugh is still a ridiculous and hypocritical wackjob though.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick He's a Strict Constitutionalist and Conservative. That OK by me.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley Except that he doesn't follow the Constitution but you seem to be perfectly fine with that too based on your past expressions of opinion.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley Mostly 4th and 8th amendment rights, although 1st amendment to a degree as well.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick So what is your beef?
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley I was talking about Kavanaugh, not about you lol
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick I know what you meant! I'm not familiar with his decisions.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley As far as actual court decisions go, he hasn't made any directly unconstitutional rulings. He has however expressed strong support of the Patriot Act and warrantless NSA spying as well as torture programs which violate two amendments. And which is why I do not trust him on the Supreme Court.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick Well i am OK with the Patriot Act and Enhanced Interrogation.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley Which is why I said you openly admit to condoning violations of the US Constitution.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley And by the way, it's not enhanced interrogation. It's torture. We took our methods from a Chinese manifesto called "How to Torture."
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick Legally, by American legal standards, it is not torture. Torture, in American jurisprudence, requires permanent injury. If no permanent injury results, it is not torture.

I realize this conflicts with other countries and other standards. The US has not ratified the more recent versions of the Geneva Convention for this reason.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley So torture involving ripping out people's fingernails and teeth doesn't cause permanent injury? What about forced rectal penetration using hoses that results in incontinence? Torture using venomous insects, subjection to extreme cold (that one resulted in three deaths, by the way), exposure to electric shock that causes irregular heartbeats. Those aren't permanent injuries? That doesn't classify as cruel or unusual punishment? Our torture methods have killed the people being "interrogated." If that isn't a lasting injury then I don't know what is.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick those things aren't allowed by US Law. They are torture
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley Correct. They aren't allowed under US law but we've done them anyway. Some of those things have been done to me, actually, albiet by Saudis and not Americans. I have a weak heart because of torture involving electricity.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick I am very sorry to hear that. i hope your health does not continue to suffer.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley Oh, I forgot to add this before, but if you're completely fine with the Patriot Act and Data Mining Program and completely warrantless NSA spying, as you admitted earlier in this conversation, not only are you totally fine with blatantly violating constitutional law but you're also in favor of big government. And what is it that conservatives always scream as loud as they can? "WE NEED SMALL GOVERNMENT." Well what government could be bigger than one that gets to monitor your daily activity on a regular basis.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick I am a small government guy.

The Constitution is not a suicide pact.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley You're a small government guy. But you want the government to have the ability to legally collect all of your metadata, spy on you without a warrant, and detain you indefinitely.

Well then you're the worst "small government guy" I've ever met.

The Constitution is not a suicide pact.

Well a few comments ago, you said this:

He's a Strict Constitutionalist and Conservative. That OK by me.

So you like Kavanaugh being a "strict constitutionalist" but you're also ok with him completely slaughtering constitutional amendments.
HoraceGreenley · 61-69, M
@BlueMetalChick I never said this was OK for citizens. I don't believe in extending Constitutional rights to noncitizens.
BlueMetalChick · 26-30, F
@HoraceGreenley Alright, so then you're not ok with the Patriot Act, Data Mining Program, or warrantless NSA spying. You'd be ok with them if they only applied to non-citizens, e.g. undocumented immigrants, foreign representatives, tourists, etc.
