Most Americans will probably have to learn Russian soon, the way things are going.

@ValhallaAwaitsUs You know the U.S. is divided, and whatever Trump does will be reversed by the next president and congress? And one thing he's done is finally motivate Democrats to vote.
ValhallaAwaitsUs · 31-35, M
I don’t know, I see hate from both sides but the left seems a bit louder on the hate train.
And from what I have learned it’s the colleges and media that are dividing people up.

@ValhallaAwaitsUs Were you here when Obama was president? The hate from the right at that time was at a fever pitch. And you must have noticed the hate directed at Clinton during the campaign.
Trump and the Republicans are in power now, so of course there's more hatred directed at them. If the Democrats take over the House in November, you'll see plenty of hatred directed at Nancy Pelosi or whoever the new Democratic speaker is.
I see plenty of hate coming from right-wing media. It's not limited to the left by any means. And colleges have been hotbeds of radicalism since the 1960s.

@GlueGun That's great. Unless we make an effort, a lot of these obscure languages will die out. Here some Native American groups are trying to preserve their own languages. There are still people whose first language is Lakota or Navajo or a few others, but many of them are no longer spoken.
AliceTinker · 51-55, F
@GlueGun Same with Welsh, same with most Celtic languages. I hope they stop squabbling because it doesn't help to keep these languages alive.
LeopoldBloom · M
@AliceTinker Aren't there still a lot of native Welsh speakers? I was talking to a lady on here who said Welsh was her first language, and she only learned English in school. And she wasn't even that old, she was a teenager.
Did you know Donald Trump's mother, Mary MacLeod, was from Tong in the Outer Hebrides, and her native language was Scottish Gaelic? She also learned English at school, but reportedly when she visited Scotland, she spoke Gaelic with her relatives.

Human. Then maybe I’ll understand why humans are the way they are. You know... scummy.

@KaiserSolze It's an ancient language. Much of it purely verbal.
Handed down from one generation to another.
Fascinating in as much as words often have long strings of consonants and no vowels.
