Are you familiar with the Darlie Routier case?

21 years ago she was found guilty of stabbing her young sons to death. There was a huge outcry when Darlie was shown at her boy's gravesite laughing and playing with "silly string". This was supposedly to honor one of the boy's birthday.

Darlie is on death row at present awaiting her last appeal. New evidence is showing other DNA found at the murder scene. Also, her husband has been accused of trying to pull off an insurance scam. What to you think?

I am very familiar with this case. I had to write a paper on it in college. I understand how people could believe that she was the killer, but I never figured out how they had enough evidence for a death sentence.

Also, that video, it's longer. Before all of the silly string and stuff, everyone there was incredibly somber.

@Coyotedave611 From what I gathered, neither one really cared for being parents. And she was just a trophy wife, which was fine with her for the most part.
The entire situation is bizarre.
@Coyotedave611 im not familiar with this case but in reading these comments im inclined to believe the man wanted to kill his kids for $$ and she may have helped him.. Or have been put up to it by him.. She seens to be lacking in brains and he seems lacking in remorse . They should reopen the case and maybe prosecute him as well imo 😤

Ugh

I read the book years ago and just recently watched a 4 part special on 20/20 about her case. I have never been convinced or her guilt and it’s heartbreaking to imagine how much she has endured if she is innocent. The extent of her injuries did not seem self inflicted to me. Even if she could have inflicted the knife wounds, how did she bruise her arms like that...they were black elbow to wrist. I don’t see how you can do that to yourself. Plus the bloody sock in the alley and the dna evidence seems to support her story. I think the police and prosecutor found her guilty long before trial and ignored all other evidence. Her defense attorney seemed arrogant and so confident he would win that he did not call any of his own experts to refute the forensic evidence presented by the prosecution. He also didn’t play the rest of the silly string footage which was shown out of context and, in my opinion, biased the jury and caused her to be convicted.
For me, this is one of those cases that I have wondered what REALLY happened since the beginning. Kind of like the Jon Benet Ramey case... I pray someday day that is solved but not sure it’ll ever happen.
@LG1976 Thanks for some very outstanding observations. Well done!
I remember. I read a book about it. At the end I wasn't convinced of her guilt. The gravesite scene was jarring, but I've heard close family make jokes at graveside. Some people don't react any 'normal' way to such horrors.

If I recall correctly, her conviction seemed based more on 'who else?' I'm not sure that's sufficient for a murder conviction.
@Mamapolo2016 I loved my gram more than anyone, but got a fit of the giggles at her funeral.
@Coyotedave611 Hysteria can explode at any emotional trigger - laughter, tears, screams, silence.

Do.I think she's a particularly deep, thoughtful young woman? I do not. But being ditzy isn't against the law.

That Darlie did not what she was doing back then and she doesn't now.

If there is new evidence that was not presented at her trial she will be getting a new trial.
