How to effectively forget someone?

Myzery · 41-45, F

Sometimes I wish I knew.

It's been several months.

Sometimes I think I'm over it, and sometimes I wonder.

But you have to grow and move on.
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Kcmzeph In my case she won't talk to me again, so it is what it is. Probably for the best.

Hang in there.
Kcmzeph · 31-35, F
@GeistInTheMachine have you tried meeting others?
GeistInTheMachine · 31-35, M
@Kcmzeph Yup. It's not as easy for me though.

But it's motivation for me to grow and evolve.
The best way is to remove any form of contact so you’re not tempted to communicate with them again. I’d also put away photos, gifts, really anything of significance that reminds you of them until you’ve moved on, distractions can help as well. All of that plus time just seems to be the best way. The easy way, and not always the best way is finding someone else, although I feel that can often lead to hurt mainly for the other person and it’s not a satisfying feeling it never feels like it’s enough just something short and temporary to get you by.
Kcmzeph · 31-35, F
@Stark yes..pardon I kinda absorb something that I think I could not do
@Kcmzeph Well then attempt the first solution. Taking action is really the first step to feeling better and moving on. Attempt activities as a distraction, maybe get with friends, find something that can help you cope and feel better. For me it’s poetry, I think it helps me understand my feelings and why I feel the way I do. Also spending time with friends and getting out more is a great distraction for me. Time is the best way, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait around for it to happen try other methods to help move on as well.

Edited.

@Stark yes thank you for these suggestions..really appreciate these 🙏🙏.
You don't, you just use it as a motivation and another tool of creation to become more of who you will be and are.

Invest time in making yourself happy.
SW-User
Pretend like you never met them.
76starships · 46-50, M
Time and distance.
It doesn’t happen. You just keep living and eventually the hurt lessens. But if they were important to you, you won’t forget.
Kcmzeph · 31-35, F

Keepitsimple · 51-55, F

Kcmzeph · 31-35, F

Live your life and someone else will come along....it may not happen overnight but it will happen.
SW-User
Can you actually forget anyone. I suppose with enough time and no contact! However your brain is like a computer ...once there, it never goes away. Best solution is not allow yourself to dwell on them...

Remind yourself constantly of why they are not worth remembering. And move the fuck on.
