What's an informal term to describe a female which isn't regarded as condescending/sexist?

For example, "chick", " babe", "broad", all seem to have negative connotations. But " dude", "guy" etc seem okay.

What say ye?

dude and bruh have been made genderless in casual speech

@texasdaddydom ya but you wouldn’t ever say “that jane is a nice dude”
texasdaddydom · 51-55, M
@NiftyWhite just say jane is nice

right but the poster is saying we have colloquial terms for guys but all colloquial terms for ladies are derogatory. you can also refer to men by their names but we also have casual words like dude that are not offensive for guys yet none really exist for women

@NiftyWhite i can read and comprehend just fine but that example was set up to be award regardless of gender pronouns
@NiftyWhite I don’t agree. My ex Jacob would have flipped the fuck out if you called him bro and you didn’t know him. He’d say “I ain’t your fucking bro. You don’t know me.” Point being, you should be familiar before using terms of familiarity.
@texasdaddydom I agree that those terms have lost much gender specifty and typically are viewed less sexist.

@DarkHeaven ok yes like just about everyrhing in life SOME people take offense - but don’t miss the point based on an example — everyone knows there’s an exception to every single generalization. and even if he IS offended, dude and bruh don’t have sexist tones like “broad” and other examples do for females.

MOST people don’t consider it sexist or even rude to take about a guy as “dude” when speaking about them. If you refer to another woman as a “broad” no matter if you’re talking TO them or ABOUT them it’s generally not accepted. There’s no “generally accepted by most” term to refer to a girl colloquially without blatantly sounding like a sexist jerk. thats the point here.

@DarkHeaven how about if I call Jacob "bud" or "buddie"? Will he still flip out?

often people object to behavior and terms depending on who is using them them. some people can "get away with murder" are usually attractive friendly people. if you want to identify with someone you are more likely to cut slack. if women are complaining when you use the terms ladies chances are you are ready pissed them off
@Jm31xxx He don’t know you. He’d make it real fucking clear you guys are not buddies. Possible he’s changed. I haven’t seen him for many years but I doubt it.
@NiftyWhite I can see that. ✌️
My point is, the reason those are sexist is it assumes a familiarity that does not exist. If the familiarity does exist than those terms for that one women are typically acceptable. 🖤

@DarkHeaven mmmm no calling a woman “broad” is sexist because it refers to her “broad hips” making her body the centrepoint of her identity. it doesn’t matter if you are familiar or not, it’s not accepted to call a woman a broad.
@NiftyWhite This is your opinion. I’ve had an SO that called me her bitch and I called her my whore. Obviously we didn’t really think that of each other but it was cutsie names we used because of familiarity. I get what you want for you but you don’t get to fucking tell me what is good and right for me or actually anybody else for that matter. You speak ONLY for YOU!
NiftyWhite · 46-50, F
@DarkHeaven ya ok troll. BLOCKED.
@NiftyWhite Fuck off dumbfuck.
@NiftyWhite You don’t get to tell other people what they think. That doesn’t make me a troll you stupid bitch.
