Do you ever wake up having a panic attack?

PilinisesiofParadise · 31-35, F
I have a couple times, I thought I was having a heart attack. I screamed and my parents rang the ambulance.

Found out at the hospital it was panic attack. It was a terrible feeling, felt like I was suffocating and the room was closing in on me.

@PilinisesiofParadise I never had one that bad before. Must've been horrifying.

Only once has this happened. It felt like a heart attack.
I went into the hospital and they said often panic attacks are confused for heart attacks.

@SW-User Oh wow, I never had it that bad before.

@cheesyAF it's the only time I ever had a panic attack. It was freaky. My left arm was all numb and tingly and my heartbeat just crazy.
I sometimes wake up thinking I’m still incarcerated and panic for a second before I realize I’m in my bed at home still

@Complexconfessions Last question. Did you find it difficult to get your shit together?
@SW-User Not at all, you do have the cards stacked against you once you get out but if someone’s adamant on not going back they can do it. I spent my first few years fighting all the time until
I finally started using my time wisely and bettering myself with trades and vocational courses and exercise. The recidivism rate is astounding though because most people don’t learn their lesson and use the revolving door that leads them right back in.

Well mate sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders.

I've just always been terrified by the idea of prison since Oz, and a few movies. I know things are hyped up on tv for effect but from what you told me, it seems it truly is an awful place to be.
I have no intention of going back. I got my shit together now, only took 7 1/2 years away from everything to realize that lol.
Keep up the good work👍🏻

Yes, that happened to me twice. Once was induced by an allergy and it seemed like a heart attack, but I rationalized that it wasn't because of data points on my smartwatch. The other time it was because I was traveling with a couple of my nieces and a nephew, and one has asthma and was coughing in the night, so when I finally fell asleep, I awoke in a panic attack at about 4 in the morning.

Not anymore. I have them pretty much under control.

Yes many times
SW-User
Yes, I unfortunately have that happen often... Especially after night terrors and/or sleep paralysis. It is so scary! I'm sorry you're dealing with it.
SW-User
I have, yes. Felt like I couldn’t breathe and that I was losing my mind. I’ve had them at very unexpected times.
cheesyAF · 31-35, M
