Do you ever wake up having a panic attack?

I sometimes wake up thinking I’m still incarcerated and panic for a second before I realize I’m in my bed at home still

@Complexconfessions How bad was lockdown if you don't mind me asking?
Its definitely a different world in there lol. I was in a maximum security compound so there was a lot of crazy shit going down at all times. I’ve seen people get their heads bashed in with locks tied to belts. Seen people stabbed in the chow hall and and once even seen a man attack another man with a riding lawn mower blade sharpens to a sword. Like anything else though you get used to it after awhile I guess

I don't think I could ever get used to the things you witnessed in there. Sounds terrifying, like any crazy thing could breakout at any moment without warning.😂

Is it best to keep to yourself to avoid trouble, or would one need to join a gang of some sort?
It’s usually the weaker ones who join the gangs for real. Or the younger influenceable ones. I always stayed to myself though and made sure to know who I associated with in there so I didn’t get wrapped up in their bullshit by association. As long as you respect other stuff on there and demand your respect as well at all costs then nobody bothers you except for the occasional
new guy who doesn’t know any better lol

@Complexconfessions I see. Well, I'm not a tough guy. I don't imagine i would last a day. Just sounds brutal beyond imagination. Thanks for the talk man and stay out of trouble if you can help it.
A smart guy lives a lot longer than a tough guy in that jungle lol. And don’t worry, I have no intention of going back. I got my shit together now, only took 7 1/2 years away from everything to realize that lol.

@Complexconfessions Last question. Did you find it difficult to get your shit together?
@SW-User Not at all, you do have the cards stacked against you once you get out but if someone’s adamant on not going back they can do it. I spent my first few years fighting all the time until
I finally started using my time wisely and bettering myself with trades and vocational courses and exercise. The recidivism rate is astounding though because most people don’t learn their lesson and use the revolving door that leads them right back in.

Well mate sounds like you have a good head on your shoulders.

I've just always been terrified by the idea of prison since Oz, and a few movies. I know things are hyped up on tv for effect but from what you told me, it seems it truly is an awful place to be.

Keep up the good work👍🏻
