I would be happy with a large log cabin on a stream with a water fall in
North Carolina ,USA
Maybe a pond right at my front door
I built such a place ,except it was a small cabin
(you said I could bring my family so I need a bigger one ,and thats the only way I would go anyway ,with my family )
The one I built for someone else wasn't big but it was so nice ,
An alternate
I was on an island off of Miami ,,
It had a home built from drift wood ,they had power and a cottage for company
2 story ,but it was like something out of Swiss Family Robinson ,I loved it
My family with me ,game to hunt and a place to grow a garden with my son and Grandson ,all the girls making things girls like to make
I would be content ,relying a lot on my family as I am getting old ,
But I would be there to tell them everything they needed to do for the seasons
Not as one that tries to run the show ,,just a guide when needed

@rckt148 This sounds like a dream. If I could go off and live away from society in something as lovely as a cabin, I would be totally down. I love the detail here, thanks for taking me on that trip with you <3

@SW-User I love that. Well thought out, too.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
I'd have to say taking into consideration, weather, disasters, and other factors I'm more than happy to be in the UK and I honestly have no desire to live elsewhere.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Angelfire21 weather's a big thing for me i can't stand heat so anywhere hot would be out..id never deal with earthquakes and tornados, we had a small earthquake here a month or so ago and it was awful! And although people moan, we have a lot of resources we can depend on for support when we need it..
Angelfire21 · 36-40, F
@Primnproper I am also all about the weather. California is so mild and I've lived here my entire life. I don't have the tolerance for other places. I mean, I can survive, I'm pretty sure I just whine a lot and nobody wants to be around me lol
And earthquakes... well, if I'm being honest... it quakes a lot here. Los Angeles sits on a fault and every few months we get a little shake.

@JoyfulSilence Arizona IS hot... it's muuuuuurder lol. Beautiful, love the native american culture there, but the weather is not for me.
JoyfulSilence · 46-50, M
@Angelfire21 I was mostly near the Grand Canyon, which was only in the 80s during the day. But I flew in and out of Phoenix. Both those days, it was 102. Yet surprisingly bearable. Ninety five degrees and humid is worse.

Sweden. Norway. Australia. New Zealand. Canada.
PoetryNEmotion · F
@Picklebobble2 Speaking as a Canadian, I can proudly say Ontario is great as is British Columbia. Maritimes look sweet, but employment is rather limited. We are a friendly nation. And in winter, it is damn cold.
Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
@PoetryNEmotion I often think i'd sooner be cold than eternally wet ! It rains about ten months a year here. Much of it cold too.
Angelfire21 · 36-40, F
@Picklebobble2 I love the rain, but I say that in a state that's been in a drought forever. If it rained constantly and I had to go out in it and do life, it might annoy me too lol
PoetryNEmotion · F
I pick in the States with him. Or Australia. And lots of flights for my son to visit me. Or South America.

However coffee and chocolate are definitely up there on the important list of essentials
You and someone else mentioned Norway, that is also a close second :)

Angelfire21 · 36-40, F
@PotPrincess1 I read something the other day about Norway being the happiest country in the world. I always follow up reading things with researching, not because I'm so thorough, but because I have a learning addiction. The only thing I really know is that I have a lot to learn, or somesuch.
Either way, it's apparently true based on a lot of factors. Average wage, women's equality, free healthcare, they get HUGE maternity leave and various other things. I don't know what they are doing right, but we should be looking over their shoulder for the answers for sure.

PotPrincess1 · 36-40, M
all of those factors you mentioned should be implemented in all other countries as they simply make sense. environments and society shape us into who we are. It seems like equality is something that has at least reached almost everywhere now (if not completely then at least partially) even if free healthcare and decent wages/standards will of living haven’t yet
Norwegians are also humble and happy with the simple things, have you ever tried brunost?

Angelfire21 · 36-40, F
@Straylight I make bacon jokes, but I really do love England. I've never been to Reading, but I've been to London and there is just something about Europe... you can feel how much older it is. Being American, it's something I'm not used to but truly loved. Italy felt older than that even
Straylight · 31-35, F
@Angelfire21 My reasoning is almost entirely because Jasper Fford's Thursday Next series takes place there (usually) and I'd love to see the real place.
