It's what I do for work right now...both Uber ad Lyft. I'm pretty happy in general, but I do miss having medical benefits and paid sick days.

@Peaceful Well, sorta. Uber (in this area) has about double the customer base so in general I get more per week from them. However if I get a long trip with Lyft that pays better for the one ride as they have about 5% less commission. But for shorter rides you don't really see a difference.

@Cannabro Depending on the week I can make between $600 and $1000. It all depends on the week of the year, holidays, the hours of the day you drive and if anything has made the news to scare passengers (like a driver in Colorado shooting a passenger...last week took a dive after that happened).

It's a great side gig or in between jobs job. Can't really call it a 'career', no benefits and no advancement. Very dependant on your location! I drive Philly/South Jersey. Lots of opportunity, few slow nights. If you are out in the sticks things can be slow on Lyft, Uber might be a better bet. Lots drive both. Check out Amazon and a few other drive options. I will say, it's an awful lot of fun if you've got the right attitude!

Depending on where you live, it might be kind of scary to be a Lyft driver.
I think it's a good sideline
