Every ticket I have received has gotten throw out. I encourage you to fight every ticket you get. Alot of the time the cops are trying to get there quota which encourages them to push through bogus tickets
@Allison The only way you can get out of a ticket—especially one that had an accurate radar gun—is if the cop never showed up at the hearing.?

firefall · 61-69, M
On the interstates/motorways, usually 10mph or so over the limit, like most of the traffic.

In town, I don't speed. Not worth it, there's very little actual time you can save, and you substantially increase the frequency of both crashes and damage per crash.

Last speeding ticket? Uh ... never, actually, in 45 years driving. I did once get a ticket for careless driving, overtaking on the crest of a hill.
firefall · 61-69, M
@CereBellum not lawabiding so much as careful & pragmatic.
@firefall But don’t you just sometimes crave the need to speed?
firefall · 61-69, M
@CereBellum not on a regular basis. Very occasionally, but in quite carefully chosen circumstances. I think the fastest I've done on the roads, was 140, at 2 a.m. on the M23, driving back from Brighton (back in my sports-car days). And at that I got passed by a pair of BMWs like I was standing still.
TheProphet · M
Anywhere from 20 to 60 miles over the limit depending on the road. I drive fast cars and love the thrill of driving fast. Been 20 years since I got a ticket.
It depends on how late I am. 😬

My last ticket was May 2010. All the times since have been warnings.
@ProdigalSummer You must be a real nice sweet talker.
@CereBellum I’m just polite. And always look tired and have a brood of kids. I think they feel bad for me. 😂
katielass · F
I;ve been known to drive 30 MPH more than the posted speed limit and occasionally more than that. The last time I got a ticket I was going 50 in a 40 and he had absolutely no sense of humour. I mean i was the one getting the ticket. But I got it dismissed for taking a defensive driving class online. So there Mr. No Sense of Humour.
@katielass By doing so is the ticket expelled from your records?
katielass · F
@CereBellum Yes, like it never even happened. I've ever gotten a ticket that stuck. Defensive driving class gets them removed and gets a discount on insurance to boot. lol But you can take the class only every 3 years I think. Well, to get a ticket removed.
EniaE · 22-25, F
It depends but I normally do 5- 10 over when I speed. I’ve been pulled over twice, warnings both times. I also get really lucky beacuse there have been a few times where I didn’t see a cop but they didn’t get me.
hlpflwthat · M
On highways 10 mph, unless traffic is moving faster. I'm looking at you, Florida & Georgia.

I don't speed in town.
@hlpflwthat Florida CHP are not terribly nice.
hlpflwthat · M
@CereBellum But I've cruised countless hours thru the Sunshine State 85+ while traffic regularly passes me.
thetucker · 61-69, M
I normally go 5 - 10 over the speed limit. I've never had a speeding ticket. The closest I got to getting one was when I was in high school, put a new engine in my car, I was doing 90+ in a 25. I pulled over when I saw the cop. He said thanks for stopping he didn't get my plate number and would not have caught me. He was amazed a ford pinto could go that fast, had me open the hood, he was in aw looking at the engine. lol
Told me to slow down if he caught me doing it again I would go to jail.
@thetucker Hahahaha — back in the good old days. Funny story. Get a Pinto Pronto Tonto.
I'm usually within about 10 mph, and its been over ten years. Just don't ask me about rolling stops at stop signs, please.
Allison · 41-45, F
It called driving defensibly.
SW-User
Around 85 where I can get away with it
hippyjoe1955 · 61-69, M
Law enforcement here has their radars set to ignore anyone doing 10% over the speed limit. Driving 110 kph in a 100 kph zone will not get you a ticket. Driving 35 kph in a 30 kph zone will get you a ticket. Enforcement varies with time of year and government greed/need. Tickets are a great source of revenue.
frequentlyme · 70-79, M
Routinely I drive from 5 - 15 mph over the limit, depending upon traffic and street or highway. I have traveled double the interstate speed limit on more than one occasion... straight stretch, zero traffic. Two tickets for speeding in over 50 years of driving.
@frequentlyme Long, lonely and boring driving. Even cruise control doesn’t help much.
SW-User
5. I never got a ticket.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
? usually 10 to 20 mph when i was behind the wheel.

only caught once.. at 76.5.

which is okay with me.

i was more interstate driver, i guess the police can't make good points with too many to choose from.
malizz · 70-79, M
SOmetimes I slip just over the limit. Only one ticket twenty years ago, on road not travelled for 30 years. Could have taken opportunity to argue my case a bit better being on holiday etc.
Allison · 41-45, F
I know a person who would have been killed if he did not get ejected from the car. It was a rollover that crushed the drivers side. Even the the fire company said he would have been killed
Allison · 41-45, F
You can try and dispute the rade. They are required to configure the radar every day. There are test they have to do. You can also try the Doppler effect. Radar can get wrong readings
Allison · 41-45, F
Departments use tickets as an advancement tool and shift assignment. If you write fewer tickets you may get a crapy shift. Believe me they want to income
Allison · 41-45, F
If you are involved in a very bad accident they be be more of a problem than a lifesaver
EniaE · 22-25, F
@Allison I’d rather not go through the windshield or tumble around the car in a rollover.
Allison · 41-45, F
Seatbeats are not complete lifesavers as most people think
@Allison Statistics reveal they actually do save more lives then not wearing them.
Allison · 41-45, F
It is called revenue generation. Stick it to anyone who will pay it l. Most people do not fight ticketed and they know that
Allison · 41-45, F
The best thing is not to get into a accident and pay attention to what is going on around you
@Allison It’s called an accident for just that reason.
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Here you can go about 5 miles over the speed limit, just nothing too crazy lol. If it's 35, I usually go 38 for example.
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@CereBellum So what do you think of John Olinger & would you do him
@JohnOinger I think he should ask at least semi-normal questions. The “Do Him Ones” are really old and boring.
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@CereBellum its my Trademark its what I became Popular for On SW
@JohnOinger Seriously? Time for a new trademark. I’ll bet you could come up with some interesting questions, that actually would garner responses.
SW-User
My last ticket was almost 30 years ago. I generally go the limit but sometimes stray 9 or so km/h over.
Allison · 41-45, F
You have to know how to work the system. As long as you do not enter the cross walk when you stop.
SW-User
I have never had a speed ticket. I live 5 minutes walk from my job. It’s a very small town.
GLITTER · 36-40, F
A few. And about 6 months ago 😂
@GLITTER How many miles over the speed limit were you going?
GLITTER · 36-40, F
@CereBellum I was going 37 in a 30. It wasn't even in my car which annoyed me lol
@GLITTER Hey, cops need to make their speeding quota every month. Lucky you. Ha!
Allison · 41-45, F
I got out of a seatbelt ticket for just say I am 32 years accident free
@Allison I actually did receive an expensive ticket decades ago for no seatbelt. Cop asked me if I had fibromyalgia, as that’s the only excuse for not wearing one. Damn!
SW-User
I have never got a speeding or parking ticket 😎😎😎
@SW-User You’re either really lucky, or you seldom drive?
SW-User
@CereBellum I only drive locally 👍👌
Allison · 41-45, F
Seatbelts do contribute to a lot of deaths
Would you stop spamming everyone :/ @Allison
Allison · 41-45, F
Generally if you behave yourself you can get out of it
Barebum61 · 61-69, M
I have had 2 speeding tickets in 40 years and I was a couple of ks over
Subsumedpat · 36-40, M
No more than 10 on the highway, don't get stopped.
GJOFJ3 · 61-69, M

TheLordOfHell · 41-45
Are you a cop, trying to force a confession out of me?
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
Yes I do and that is the scary part
@TheLordOfHell Somewhere in the south?
TheLordOfHell · 41-45
It doesn't matter. Point is, what happened actually happened. It was a travesty. I will say no more here. You know where to find me
