Sure. In a perfect world.

But we don’t live in a perfect world. We attempt to teach children what the parent sees as fact or moral. Or at the very least accepted within the society he or she is growing up in.

The only alternative would be to not teach your child anything phylisophical, religious or political in fear that you yourself are wrong to believe it.

I suppose the healthy balance is to teach them what you think you know to be fact and let them decide what to take on bored or forget as they grow. But then? Do I even know 100% certainty that’s the correct way to parent???

Why don't we all stop with the whole "indoctrination' thing? The only difference between indoctrination and teaching is the promotion of questions and examination of the subject material.

Christians teach Christianity. There's nothing wrong with that. Satanists preach Satanism. There's nothing wrong with that. Having grown up Catholic, I can tell you that examination and critical thought are encouraged more than not.

The only way a person can be indoctrinated is by not questioning for themselves what they're hearing; the only way a child can be indoctrinated is if he's not taught the same critical skill.

Only if the other people agree, clearly. The more interesting question, I think, is should parents be allowed to indoctrinate their own children. It’s a difficult question, but my own view is that at least some education in contrary views and beliefs should be compulsory.

In my opinion, you either teach all religions (including satanism) or none at all. We have so many people in this world, it is unfair to have a Christian bias only in school or society.

I think teaching religion as "mythology and culture" is perfectly fine but if it's the type of indoctrination you're talking about then no.

I even disagree with many people that say "we are a Christian nation" because it immediately draws a line in the sand that says "my tribe vs. your tribe." It's like putting a flag on top of a hill and declaring it yours, that's what it says to me.

first of all, how can anyone draw in kids here? especially Christians. there are enough doubters here to put anyone off. and Satanists have as much right to post about their religion as any other religion.

Brainwash them while they're young.
