Should christians be allowed to indoctrinate other people's children? [Spirituality & Religion]

A christian complained that a Satanist posted here attempting to draft young kids in. Is that really any different from what christians often do?

Sure. In a perfect world.

But we don’t live in a perfect world. We attempt to teach children what the parent sees as fact or moral. Or at the very least accepted within the society he or she is growing up in.

The only alternative would be to not teach your child anything phylisophical, religious or political in fear that you yourself are wrong to believe it.

I suppose the healthy balance is to teach them what you think you know to be fact and let them decide what to take on bored or forget as they grow. But then? Do I even know 100% certainty that’s the correct way to parent???

@User41 I wasn't asking about parents teaching their own children their beliefs. I was asking whether religious groups should be allowed to attempt to indoctrinate other people's children, especially against the parents' wishes.

@suzie1960 sounds to me it's up to the parents then. plus there are no 5-year-olds here on sw. if a parent has that their kids not learn about a certain religion it's up to them to see it doesn't happen. but why would a parent not want their kids exposed to all religions so they can make their own choices?

@ladycae It should be up to the parents but christian zealots try to overrule them. That's what I object to.

I think children should learn abut religion but they should be presented equally, along with Atheism and Agnosticism.

@suzie1960 so Christian zealots come into your home and teach your kids? lol i think you have more problems than Christians.

@ladycae Where did I say that? They do post their sick literature through my door though.

those are 7th day Adventist. they are not Christians. and you clearly said
christian zealots try to overrule them
i don't see how that is possible unless a parent is there objecting.

@ladycae Actually the literature I've seen is not from 7th Day Adventists. I don't think there are any in my area. We have CoE, Catholic and Methodist mainly.

They try to overrule parents by not considering their wishes.
