1. SO or family no... A friend or acquaintance, I'd make every effort, but if no positive response, yes. Remembering is quite different than not wanting your presence in their life. One must always remember that if and when a person changes due to an accident it impacts everyone in their life.
2. Awkward...at best.... You have no control over others, only yourself. Let them down as easy as possible, but if you've moved on, be a friend, but keep on your path.
Anything can and usually does happen. For most it is hypothetical, but for a few, it likely is very real.

@sunrisehawk Yes, for every hypothetical there is a probable.

First part - I would find it difficult to move on and would try to get them to remember me. Eventually if all things failed I would be forced to move on.
If someone thinks I am their significant other after the accident, it depends on what her status is as well as mine.

Initially I don't believe you would but after a few years have past, you might give up on the thought that he/she will ever remember you.
If this brings a smile to your face and puts a giggle in your voice, why mess up a good thing. He will need you in the recovery.

Must noodle when there is more time.

@KaysHealingPath umm Yes? Lol

@Fungirlmmm depends who the someone is?
My husband or family - no...
Second part: if I had already moved on but this person has the belief that we’re still together I’d try and help them remember the missing pieces - but I wouldn’t pretend like were still together.
It’s a hard choice- even if it’s hypocritical

@KaysHealingPath it is a hard hypothetical.
