It might be a bit boring, even if there is a structure to the experience. Maybe you could just bum around for a few months and see where life takes you, although that can get expensive.

I do know a contractor, who does fantastic work, who has been in jail -- never financial crimes, and misdemeanors. I don't think it really negatively impacts his business, since I know I don't care, so long as he's not locked up when I need him -- like I do for an odd electrical issue in my garage right now.

But then there is all the drama and hoopla that comes with the crime in your life after you did your time.

No a good idea. You'll face a lot of discrimination in society once you're labeled a felon.
