Dubai International Airport tops Atlanta for international air traffic and only recently has topped Atlanta for domestic operations as well. This is because most international flights to the USA have been cancelled for the winter season due to lack foreign interest in the USA.
@swirlie only because UAE has 7 major airports. There's nowhere else to really fly to.

@aboveaverageaveragejoe
Your unusual rationale also applies to Atlanta and everywhere else in the world for that matter.

Why would you even have an airport where nobody wanted to fly to?
ArishMell · 70-79, M
London Heathrow, but that's easy for me as I have flown only about a dozen times in my life, and most were internal flights between regional airports.

I think it's said to be the world's busiest. It's certainly one of them.

Mustique Island, that is part of St Vincent and the Grenadines. The air traffic is just harrowing. One airplane every 3 days.

You risk getting run over basically at least twice a week. A very dangerous place for your safety in my opinion.

When I was a student pilot there were 7 powered aircraft in the circuit doing a left hand circuit doing touch and goes and 4 gliders doing right hand circuits. 11 aircraft all teenage student pilots all flying off of two parallel runways. And then the armed forces came in with two Chinook helicopters. As a student you learned to keep your eyes out of your cockpit and your head on a swivel.

Well the last time I flew was before 911 and I went though Chicago's O'Hare, Orlando International Airport and International Airport and Los Angeles's LAX are the only majors ones I have ever been on
exexec · 70-79, C
Atlanta...too many times, and one night the trains from the remote gates weren't running. Long hike.
Rambler · 61-69, M
Atlanta, which I think is supposed to be the busiest, DFW, O'Hare, LAX, they all seem busy when you're trying to get through them.
whowasthatmaskedman · 70-79, M
LAX😷 I have been through Dubai, but we were funnelled in through a "special " track and hardly saw anything..
hunkalove · 70-79, M
I think O'Hare was the busiest in the world when I was a luggage handler there in 1972-73.

LaGuardia in New York. LAX not far behind.
Kind of a tossup. But probably JFK considering the concentration of air traffic in the area.
