I'm from the east coast, and I would like to see the desert one of these long weekends this year.

I wonder if it's possible without renting a car. Or maybe there's no way around that.
And then, going to a national park solo seems like a bad idea, too. Wonder if there's any kind of groups you can schedule to be in?

I've been to Valley of Fire State Park outside of Vegas with a tour group. Vast...my sister an I were definitely glad we chose to visit in number.

@Punxi I've seen pictures of that place. It looks like it'd be an awesome place to see in person
I’ve always wanted to go on one of those bus tours with elder people. Infact if I didn’t have kids I’d be going on them every year.

From Vegas, I can take a shuttle to Salt Lake City, for example. I wonder if there are shuttles that travel even further through the country. And reach wherever you are

@caPnAhab I think I'm too far away to shuttle from here to there (It's about a 40 hour drive to Arizona for instance), so I will be flying in, but maybe I'll use a shuttle or bus to get from one of the bigger cities to a smaller place with more desert to see.

@DDonde makes sense. That drive would be ridiculous. Should you ever come to Vegas, Valley of Fire is a spectacle, like Punxi said.

I like to hike in the Red Rock Canyon, or even Mt. Charleston

join a bus tour

@1490wayb I should look those up
@DDonde perfect idea for you to look into! I highly recommend it. I know some people don’t like riding the bus long distance, but it’s completely different than a greyhound bus because it’s not gonna be filled with people who just got out of prison. It’s just a bunch of rich elder people and you will feel safe and since you’re young, they will take care of you and look after you. That’s how old people are 🤣

@TurtlePink We'll see! I may also end up renting a car after all.
it depends on what I find, I really like the idea of going and doing my own thing, but I also know I gotta not be stupid and risky about it.
