I'm from the east coast, and I would like to see the desert one of these long weekends this year.

I wonder if it's possible without renting a car. Or maybe there's no way around that.
And then, going to a national park solo seems like a bad idea, too. Wonder if there's any kind of groups you can schedule to be in?

From Vegas, I can take a shuttle to Salt Lake City, for example. I wonder if there are shuttles that travel even further through the country. And reach wherever you are

@caPnAhab I think I'm too far away to shuttle from here to there (It's about a 40 hour drive to Arizona for instance), so I will be flying in, but maybe I'll use a shuttle or bus to get from one of the bigger cities to a smaller place with more desert to see.

@DDonde makes sense. That drive would be ridiculous. Should you ever come to Vegas, Valley of Fire is a spectacle, like Punxi said.

I like to hike in the Red Rock Canyon, or even Mt. Charleston
