What shocked you the most when visiting another country?

I've never been outside of South Africa, but lemme tell you the documentaries on Scandinavia are astounding.

Single Payer Healthcare, decent Social Security, the prisoners living in better houses I've had to live. Like damn, I bet even the prison sex is gentle.

I've only been to Mexico and there wasn't anything particularly shocking about it. If anything, that it's nothing like conservatives seem to believe, that it's this treacherous wasteland with the cartel running around killing everybody. But I never believed that ignorant fearmongering anyway, lol.

I don't think anything has actually shcoked me so far, it wasn't like going to a different planet

in Europe they have open air urinals. in Lisbon you can't walk down the street for 5 minutes without someone trying to sell you fake drugs

The police don't look like they want to kill you.
