Spoken by an actor who had 55 skydives under his belt before he performed in the movie
Point Break (19991) and yea it was a cliche rich dude action film but in some parts it was very authentic. I have tremendous respect for anyone that learns how to skydive 🪂 after taking the ‘minimum amount of classroom time to get to the solo jumping stage. It’s easy to go tandem and be strapped to an instructor for the first time but it’s an entirely different experience to go solo for the first time and it takes a lot of mental discipline and fitness to focus in such an adrenaline rich environment. I can see why people get hooked on the sport and spend every dime they can get their hands on to get more and more jumps under their belts. If I could afford it I’d probably be jumping on the regular. My first jumps were very impressive and if I didn’t have other sports/activities that take all my time energy and cash flow I’d most certainly be at a drop zone trying to negotiate with a pilot for cheaper flights on the regular (like a season pass for a ski area).
