While my week in Egypt was filled with amazing historical sights I would never ever go again.

From the second we arrived my wife and I were harassed and occasionally successfully scammed by the locals. And seeing my wife be pushed and shoved by people trying to sell her tacky trinkets - it’s the closest I’ve come to punching a stranger in many years.

And if that wasn’t bad enough we both had varying degrees of food poisoning the entire time.

I’ll stick to the U.K. and Europe. I didnt save money for a year to be treated like a cash cow and disrespected for a week, and no amount of ancient temples is going to change my mind.

Sorry very sorry to hear that.... Any good points you have to share ? Or any ideas regarding precautions...

@SW-User The sights we saw were absolutely unique but sadly the rest of the experience overshadowed it and I wouldn’t consider returning under any circumstance.

@SW-User Always say No when offered to be shown places. You can go on your own. Check fees online before buying. Lot of their tourist stuff are already on Facebook market and other websites. Befriend locals online before you go to north african country. You will find that there are lot of natives who like to flaunt generosity and would not charge you for anything, and would protect you from scams. But you must establish connections before traveling.

Egypt is actually one of the cheapest countries to visit. Better seen in colder months at least to me.

@SW-User The hotel was okay but very noisy at night.

@WintaTheAngle from my experience though, that's the truth about ALL the highly touristy places. Next time choose not from the places on the lists ! Those are the most authentic ones...
