Monastery where the Monks make strong liquor .

The produce shop is now just to the right of the entrance arch. It can clearly be seen in the photo. It used to be housed in the water mill at the far end of the site. I always thought that was a good location for it. I was a bit disappointed to learn that the produce sold in the shop is made in monasteries all around the world and not on site.

@Jacko1971 It's specifically produce made in Benedictine monasteries, and I expect you can buy the Devon tonic and honey products in France, so that's a good arrangement. What is strange is how many of those monasteries produce quite potent alcohol 🤔

@Jacko1971 I noticed the expensive chocolate bars were made in Northumberland .

Looks innocent enough!!

@Quimliqer Buckfast Tonic Wine is the traditional drink of choice in certain sections of Scottish urban society. The municipality of Glasgow once petitioned the monks to stop making it, apparently without success 😬

Gorgeous architecture
How come hooligans never go for actual strong liquor like whisky/rum/gin/vodka?

I'm really surprised the monks want to be associated with this image (e.g., the Mad Dog / Thunderbird / Wild Irish Rose of the UK)

Nice pics though
