Standing on the Belgian side and facing the Netherlands. You can see where the Netherlands stops maintaining the nice road and Belgium have a plain road. No hard border, no checkpoints or anything

I lived near a border crossing growing up . There was guards watching but they was only there in case of a problem very seldom did they stop anyone most of the time it was only to say welcome and have a good day.
Now 40 years later you need a passport just to cross the bridge either way. Very sad ,these changing times.
