I went to Weston on Wednesday on business. First time I've been. Very humid when I walked back across the sands. I loved the flat, golden beach and the sheltered bay, but all felt a bit Bristol-on-Sea. Went to Ilfracombe yesterday and had a short boat ride along the beautiful rugged coast. I felt rather more at home there 馃檪

@devonman That could also apply to Dawlish, Teignmouth, Paignton . .

@SunshineGirl is Dawliah where the railway line runs along the coast. Or it did until the cliff collapsed.

@SunshineGirl I did the Northern coast of Devon in a coach.,I didn't enjoy it the driving at all.

@Jacko1971 Yep, from Dawlish to Teignmouth. They're just putting the finishing touches to the latest attempt to strengthen it.

@Jacko1971 Why was that?
devonman 路 61-69, M
@SunshineGirl The sea wall at Dawlish collapsed in 2014.

@devonman I remember it well. I was taking a break in St Ives at the time and couldn't get back home 馃槓

@SunshineGirl A massive government investment to rebuild it at a higher level .

@devonman It looks impressive and I love that stretch of track. I also hope the alternative route via Okehampton and Tavistock may one day become a reality.

@SunshineGirl one of my favourite rail journeys , Exeter to Cornwall .
The branch from Exeter to Okehampton has reopened , sadly a lot of building has taken place over much of the former track bed near Tavistock.
