London is wonderful! When we went there with kids, we found a fairly cheap hotel near the South Kensington tube station. It was good for kids (and maybe bigger people) because Hyde Park is nearby for a walk in good weather, and the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Natural History museum (both free entry) are nearby for rainy weather.
You probably already know about the Oyster Card, but if you don't it's a prepaid underground & bus card. First ride of the day is pricey but as you take more rides during the day they get super cheap. It won't pay for commuter rail out to Windsor Castle and trips like that; just the London sprawl.

@Donotfolowme American Airlines has flights out of BWI airport to London Heathrow. For a Non-stop flight, it's 7h 10m for $1,019 Basic Economy. If you want Business Class, $6,122.
Just to fly out to NV would be $750 round trip for one person on Southwest Airlines. I had a family member living in FL a few years ago and those flights were $206. With adding different options on it raises the price of the ticket. But I ain't payin no $1,000 for a ticket, let alone $6,000. I don't even have that kind of money.
