There Is A YouTube Blogger Who Went To Alaska To Camp…He Got Off A Small Train In The Middle Of Nowhere…

Was going to hike about 18 miles and camp with the stuff he brought in his backpack. This was a few weeks ago in the middle of winter, deep snow. He found a place to camp. Used a folding shovel and dug out a snow pit shelter, made a fire and put branches down for his air mattress. Cooked dinner, went to sleep. Got up and packed his stuff and took off hiking up over a mountain to get to his destination. As he walking it dawned on him that he didn’t have his glasses. So he trekked back to the campsite and scoured it looking for those glasses and still didn’t find them. Called himself “Mr. Magoo”. After two more days and nights he hears traffic so knows he’s near the highway. He called someone he knew to pick him up on the highway. This guy is a lawyer and he camps in all kinds of survival shelters he builds but I bet he learned a lesson about not misplacing his eyeglasses when he’s in the middle of Alaska in the dead of winter in deep snow. And he’s a lawyer. He could have ended up being a frozen meatsicle for wild animals if something else had gone haywire. His YouTube site is called Outdoor Boys.

reminds me of another story , this guy in his 20s i think looking for his Spiritual freedom went to Alaska and ventured inland and found an abandoned trailer but misjudged the weather conditions out there and trapped himself near a raging river and couldn't cross , he died of starvation , sad story really

@FurryFace Not thinking. I don’t know how this guy left his glasses at the camp site or where ever. I misplace my glasses in the house and need to go outside to check something or get the mail and I don’t do it till I find my glasses. It’s a search all over the house sometimes. I have older eyeglasses I can use if I couldn’t find them, would be good enough to drive I guess.

@cherokeepatti luckily i only need reading glasses otherwise i see ok but still i hate it when something isn't in its place then its like ok where is it ? and the searching starts , lol

@FurryFace you can get reading glasses at the Dollar Tree stores for $1.25 and they are decent. Lose or break them and it’s no big deal. I have sent people there to get some when they complained about high reading glasses were.

That he’s safe is the most important, but one would hope he’s learned a lesson.

@Quimliqer keep a spare pair of specs in the backpack. He only brought one backpack and seemed to have everything else he needed. He used thin nylon “tarp” to put over the shelter he made because it was snowing but it kept the snow off.

I knew a Doctor who was On Call all weekend but still thought he could make it to Comic-Con. He got called in to an emergency and didn't have time to take his make up off. I feel sorry for the car crash victim. His last thought as the anaesthesia kicked in must have been 'Is that a f#cking Klingon?'

A lawyer, eh...If he keeps that up, Darwin will prevail.

@Atlotto I bet after having to get his eyes examined and paying for new glasses he might remember better the next time he goes camping. A decent pair of Eyeglasses is not cheap. He should always carry a spare even an old pair in his backpack in case something happens to them that they break or whatever.

@Stereoguy I got a spare pair in my purse that I bring with me. The idea of having to drive home without a pair of glasses frightens me. Never can tell when something might happen to them.
