I understand it quite well, but I still focus on the kind hearted and wonderful people who seem to be forgotten a lot when bad things happen.

But there is also a different side to this. Some people project on other people, making big of something that isn't there because they want to remain in a victim mentality. This is not to shame anyone, a lot of people may not even realise they do this and believe in all the opinions they think of the other person.

Yes, I would say that expectations often cloud our perceptions. If we have no experience of people who are both cruel and evil, we will never see it coming. Even after we have experienced it, it seems shocking.

Absolutely true! They can’t believe it or won’t believe it and will make excuses for it which IMO is like pouring salt into open wound.
