I Was Molested - and I Never Told

It has always made me feel guilty. Idk I guess maybe I think its my fault somehow. It happened for a long time when I was younger but I never had the nerve to tell anyone. I still wonder if it would have been different if i had.

I was eleven and it was my friend’s father. I never told either, because I knew my parents would never let me see her again. So I resolved that we’d only have sleepovers at my home, and never saw him after that. In high school she and I drifted apart. I later wondered how safe [b]she[/b] had been with him..

@bijouxbroussard it’s pretty difficult for us as kids to figure out what is happening and being lied to and more makes it difficult

@bijouxbroussard it’s amazing how many of us feel the same obligation to blame ourselves. I know I’m not as scarred as others so I won’t pretend to know how emotionally damaged they are, but we all feel the same guilt. Just to a different degree

@Krysclear I didn’t blame myself for what he did, and I knew it was wrong. But I didn’t want to give up my friend, so in my child brain the practical thing was to have her stay with me for sleepovers. Only when I got older did it occur to me that [b][b]she[/b][/b] might’ve been a victim and had I told, she might’ve been placed in another home. She was an only child, no siblings.
