I was sexually harassed at work & today I almost exposed him
I worked for an amazing company and loved working for an amazing leader, a German who was also a father figure to me and treated me like a daughter when my wedding was called off in 2011.
But unfortunately, there was an Indian man in my department who would sexually harass me with uncomfortable sexual talks almost fckng everyday. It went to the extent that he attacked me during one of the team outings in a drunk state. Thankfully, my martial arts learning kicked in and punched him hard enough that he fell and i ran because he could overpower me
I was scared the whole night in that 5 star hotel and i kept the lights on.
I wanted to immediately go to my Indian female boss and tell her but he played a game by telling my boss that I spoke with the Managing director about considering a different department of social & digital media. I never made any such assurances when my MD offered me, I politely said, I have to talk to my boss about it. She screamed at me in front of at least 20 people when nothing of it was true. HE WON! because she's not gonna hear what this man did last night.
My previous year's bonus which goes in millions was due to come and I could have waited for it come and then resign. Instead my new employer Jaguar said, they will pay me that bonus additionally in advance. Eventually when I resigned I told her everything and she was so upset at that man from her department. She assured me she will take care of the matter but asked me not to resign. My resignation was not accepted for one month because every evening I would be called into the cabin by my female boss, Sales director and other directors that I shouldn't resign.
I revoked my resignation believing like a fool and informed my new employer.
That man who sexually harassed me denied all allegations and evidently I had no proof. He started getting back at me by delaying the approvals because I was a manager and he was the senior manager. That messed up my productivity level despite telling my female boss that he is intentionally delaying the approvals. She called him and shouted at him , but it didn't affect him. I resigned again and checked with my new employer - they had already hired someone they weren't happy with and incidently, the new candidate had to walk away for personal reasons. it was nice of Jaguar Land Rover to consider me back but this time without a bonus.
My female boss almost did nothing to help the situation. It was 21st June and on 30th June my bonus from previous year's performance was due. I took what I deserved and resigned on 1st July. Now the bad man influenced my female boss and she made sure I am fucked. So she called me to the cabin and verbally abused in the loudest possible voice with the F word ---that the entire office + Skoda and Volkswagen employees heard.
She accused me that I played this whole big game only to get my bonus. I told her I was any way going to get it but i decided to tell her beforehand and not take the bonus instead. But i told her you assured me things will be taken care of and i said no to an employer based on ur assurances.
Her F word went on and on!
I had enough. I kept my official phone right on her desk and laptop was already on my desk, and told her I AM NOT COMING BACK TO THIS PLACE AGAIN! They together made sure I paid 2 months of salary since i did not serve notice period. I did pay that from the outstanding company owed me on my travels.
The man who sexually harassed me today is the head of the communications department - the same department where I was a manager.
I should have exposed him during the metoo movement but I was already with Jaguar and I didn't want to drag my existing company into all this.
It's been 11 years and I still have that trauma - because i never got a closure! because i felt i was wronged for being too honest. Because i felt i was humiliated when I did nothing dishonest. That a man had the audacity to touch me and his one denial solves everything?
I told this alll to my therapist and not sure it helped but after that I have been wanting to screammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ! I WANT TO CRYYYYY! i want something to come out of me which is suffocating me!
