April is sexual assault awareness month

People talk about male perpetrators of sexual assault, but I like to use this month to raise awareness that women can be just as guilty of sexual violence. I know all too well, having been molested by a woman when I was a child. It seems not many people like to take notice of this, either because the rate of men who commit sexual assault is far higher or they just think it's not as bad when a woman does it. I think that trivial mentality toward it is what leads to many of them getting away with it! When I finally told my mom that that teenage girl she hired to look after me had been molesting me for over a year, she sure didn't believe me at first. The idea of a girl molesting another was unfathomable to her because obviously she believed only guys can do it. This needs to change. It doesn't matter how uncommon or even rare it may be, sexual assault is horrible crime that needs to be taken seriously no matter what.

I’m sorry, and I agree with you.
The first person to sexually assault me was a girl. When I told my mom she said it could have been worse.
