Wealth skipped us, Trauma didn't

Carrying Generational Trauma Instead of Wealth

Some families pass down houses, land, or businesses. Others pass down stories, resilience, and scars that never quite healed.

When you grow up in the shadow of generational trauma, it can feel like you inherited a weight you never asked for. Patterns of silence, survival instincts, ways of coping that once protected someone else... they trickle down until they live inside you, shaping how you see the world.

It's not fair. We didn't get to choose what was handed to us. Instead of safety nets, we got tangled threads. Instead of trust funds, we got trust issues.

And the truth is, it's exhausting. To keep carrying pain that isn't ours, to bleed for wounds we didn't create. We call it “family,” but sometimes what we really mean is damage dressed up as duty. Not everyone escapes. Not everyone heals. Some of us are just left holding the bag, heavy with ghosts we never asked to claim.
